Summer television - not muy caliente
Unlike the weather, this year's summer television shows are lacking sizzle. Even my favorite from last summer has become a little lukewarm. Here are some random thoughts:
1. So You Think You Can Dance seems to have found tons of people who really can dance. So that might be the point but that makes for some fairly boring television. No movie stars. No people who suck at dancing. No interesting songs. No interesting guys (the girls seem to be the better dancers). No real excitement on my part.
2. I was looking forward to Psych on USA Network. The show has Dule Hill whom I loved on The West Wing. The show also stars James Roday. I saw billboards for it in NYC when I was there a few weeks ago. The show had some funny moments but seemed to drag on a little. The pilot was 90 minutes so maybe it will move a little faster next week when it is one hour. Here's hoping.
3. Footballer$ Wives on BBC America has started Season 4. There is tons of new drama including babies switched at birth, a rape by a team member, new footballers, and Tonya's departure (hopefully temporarily) from the lead role. This is my only saving grace right now and seems timely with all the World Cup action.
4. Everything else on TV sucks.
