I heart Kelly Clarkson
On Friday, I unexpectedly came across some Kelly Clarkson tickets (thanks Clayton). Her concert was at Smirnoff in Fair Park. I got past the fact that it was going to be like 99 degrees and figured it would be mucho fun. We had a nice dinner at Rockfish(love the fish tacos) then it was off to Smirnoff. The traffic was not that bad. The parking was $15, which I thought was outrageous. They even put a sticker (that left crap on my windshield) as proof that I paid.
The parking lot was only a sign of what was to come -- 12-year old girls with their moms, gay guys, lesbians, and hetero couples from Plano and Frisco. It was a randomly funny mix of people. With my Heineken in tow, we headed to our seats and got ready for a great show. The opening act was not that exciting.
Kelly came out and gave a Ford away to some random girl. The concert started. She played some new and old stuff. The guys sitting next to us won their tickets from S4 in Oaklawn and they made their own T-shirts honoring KC. They helped me figure out which ones were the new ones and which were old (which I figured out on my own, mostly). A few more notes:
1. Kelly can sing or better 'that gurl can sang.' She has a great voice and is really good at putting on a show.
2. Smirnoff sucks (in the summer). I bet any other time it is pretty cool to watch a concert there but when it is 99 degrees it sucks. We did have seats but that didn't matter much. The beers made it better (and I don't even drink beer).
3. Gays love them some Kelly Clarkson. Lots. She is fierce after all.
4. Parking at Smirnoff sucks (anytime). I can tell. Fifteen dollars is a lot of money to pay for parking and it isn't even easy to get in our out.
5. Kelly's music rocks and she loves Texas. She is from here after all.
